Question ALU in the CPU

When we do calculations we don't depend of the OS, so the calculation is made in ALU without need to use the OS.
So, how the OS know (if it can) about dividing by zero?

Basic, software tricks.

ALU is logical unit which one calculates.

But, CPU, Motherboard, SSD and another parts need coordination.

At this point BIOS solvers the program.

And, ALU and CPU's uses transistors so they are electronic based logic gates.
