Am I being blocked from using WiFi?

Hi,

I think my housemate is blocking me from using WiFi, that I also pay for. It said something like "this device is blocked by access control in the router". I did some reseach on google. But I don't want to confront him with no evidence.(Not sure that's a technical or he did mess with me)

It is possible he turned on MAC filtering and did not include your MAC address. You could always reset the router if you have physical access to it.

Or just ask them about it.

Maybe say "I can't connect to the Wi-Fi, can you help me?". It really is that easy. No need to gather "evidence" just ask.

It would be best to ask him. You don't have to be confrontational. Say something like "Hey my laptop's saying my wireless is out. Is yours out too?" or, "I'm getting this weird message about my wireless getting blocked, can you help me?" If he says that there is no issue, then come back and we can start trying to troubleshoot with you.

Yes, I have done this before when a housemate wasn't paying for his internet. Confront them about it, or if you're wanting to be sneaky hard reset your router. Virgin routers you hold the reset button for 30 seconds but it differs amongst routers.

Didi you ever give him your MAC address? It may be as simple as he has a rule that only certain mac address are allowed, and he just needs to add yours.

I don't even need the MAC address to do it, if you're connected to the network and have an ID I can block you. I don't like to, but if you don't pay you don't stay
