Hi Guys,

I have finally!! purchased my first (pre-built) gaming rig:

https://chillblast.com/chillblast-fusion-mumbo-gaming-pc-stock-arriving-10th-january.html#product-details-tab-features

And i noticed that my cpu was low end and wouldnt cope running games a high so i purchased a A10 7870k and am still waiting for it but in the mean time would like to know if it was a good move, will it increase my performance noticeably? and im also aware that my graphics card isnt the best but thats the next upgrade just not sure what to get yet. All replies are appreciated. Thanks! :)

To be honest that entire rig, It quite expensive for the hardware you are getting and you correct in saying that CPU is very low end and outdated, The A10 would be much better, Have you already bought this system?

Yeah i would say that the a10 would defiantly allow you to get some more frames out of your 1050ti, as the athlon would be bottlenecking your system currently :)

That A10 is not going to be anything of an upgrade. You're going from 3.7 to 3.9 on a base clock and not much change on the IPC front as much of the change from Kaveri->Godavari, at least where the APUs were concerned, was on the graphics side of the die; not on the CPU side of the die.

Where the FM2+ chipset is concerned, the only upgrades you're going to see are 100-200MHz over what you currently have. IMO, that isn't worth $100-$130 which is where I'm seeing the FM2+ CPUs priced at right now. 100-200MHz is not going to do anything for your gaming. The best way for you to increase the power of your CPU is going to be to overclock it, but I don't know that I can recommend overclocking on the PSU that you have in that rig.

Edit: As to what GPU upgrade, I wouldn't recommend upgrading your GPU until you can upgrade your platform from FM2+ first. But, until that becomes necessary I would not bother with thinking about it.

I don't want to come down too hard on you, but:

There are numerous issues with this computer, but the one standing out the most is the Aerocool PSU... That thing blows... literally.

A custom built PC could have gotten you on to the latest gen Kabylake Pentium (2C/4T) + B250 MB (M2, DDR4 support)+ RX480 (30-40% more performance) + Corsair CXM 450W (much more reputable and would have better safeguard your components). And it would have cost less too:

And there's that £100 extra you're spending on the A10 for that computer..............
There's so much else that could have been done to give you a much better gaming PC..........

I would send the A10 back, and save that money for a platform upgrade instead of trying to dump money into a machine that is severely under spec'd. The FM2+ line has been dead for years at this point.
Don't waste another $100-200 on it when instead you could, for the same $100-200, buy a G4560, B250m motherboard, and DDR4 RAM.
