Hi. Can anyone give me a little guidance please.

I'm overclocking

C2D E6400
Gigabyte 965P.DS3B
2x cm2x512a-6400 800mhz corsair RAM (5-5-5-12)

My cpu fsb voltage is 1.3 and mem voltage 1.8 and ratio is set at 8.0

Is stepped up the fsb in steps of 0.5 and got to 345 at 2760mhz and mem freq at 862 and multiplier at x10.34 (6-8)

QUESTION 1
My CPU-Z has never displayed all the info it should for some reason so i've never been sure what my fsb mem ratio WAS. Was it 6-8, 1-1 or what?

This ran fine for two weeks but a crash last night reset my system. Trying again starting at the bottom 266fsb 2132mhz etc it's been crashing at 2500mhz or there or there abouts.

Ive been stepping up the ram with each step E.G if i go from 266 to 270 i will up the memory from 667 to 680 or whatever the option its gives me is. Then again 275 and mem up the next step (about) 690- 700.

QUESTION 2
Is this the way to do it until i reach 345 fsb 860 mem? Why does it reset all my overclocking settings on restart and are my voltage and other settings ok for overclocking?

why would you oc 800mhz ram if you haven't reached 400mhz fsb? :?
although FSB:DRAM 1:1 ratio is not required, it is prefered to run your ram in synch with fsb.

so, run your ram @ stock (if you're shooting for 400 fsb that is), and oc your cpu gradually, with love. follow wusy's c2d oc guide (sticky in cpu/oc section).

use dual instances of prime 95, orthos to test your stability, intel tat to monitor temps etc.

Thanks for your reply Assman, input much appreciated.

So run my ram at 667mhz you say and just step up my fsb?

When stepping up what increment sizes are best 0.5 or 1.0 or ?

So run my ram at 667mhz
didn't you say your ram is 800mhz?!
run it @ stock according your ram's spec sheet (disable spd detection in bios).

refer to wusy's c2d oc guide in cpu/oc section here, very helpful.

if u have a ddr2 800 memory then no overclock needed because u havnt reached till 400fsb (3.2ghz). if u have a 667 memory then u will need to overclock it to reach above (2.66ghz). and hav u set your PCI-E to 100 (fixed)
and pci to 33. if your comp doesnt boots then increase the vcore one notch
