Hey all

So I'm making my first attempt ever at building a gaming pc and am going in blind more or less. I've done some research but still don't feel 100% comfortable picking out all the components as I'm a little indecisive by nature. I'm willing to go as far as $1000 in terms of budget and am willing to make changes based on everyone's advice. So here's what I've got game planned as far as parts go:

Motherboard - MSI 970 Gaming DDR3 2133 ATX AMD

GPU - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming GDDR5 pcie video graphics card, 4GB

CPU - AMD Fx-8350

Memory - HyperX Beast DDR3

SSD - Samsung Evo 850

HDD - Seagate 2tb

Current running expense is approximately $790 (all shopping has been done on Amazon and Newegg)

Still in search of a good power supply, case, and cooler (on the fence as to whether or not I want air or liquid cooling, although I've heard air is typically the go to (noise isn't a concern to me)).

Thanks in advance for everyone's help and opinion!

Solution
I would get a modern day I5 instead, not one 2 generations old. An I5-6500 would be perfectly fine, or the I5-6600K which today's 4690K. The FX 8350's architecture is old and weak compared to Intel's current stuff.

Okay so changing from AMD to Intel for the CPU (thinking I'm going to go with the i5 4690k) and switching the GPU to the XFX Radeon rx 480? Hey that's a savings of $15! What's a good motherboard to pair with the i5?

I would be going with the i5 4690k as I've read good things about it, originally I was going with the AMD 8350 because the price just seemed to good to beat.
