Am I overdoing it?

Hi TH! I am looking into the VG248QE monitor. From my understanding and research, this is a very powerful and reliable monitor. I have no doubt that it is a great monitor. The problem I have is I play on an Xbox One. I know what your thinking... ewww 60Hz. Why the heck would I want to pay for what I do not need? Well, I am thinking ahead. I might buy myself a good gaming PC in the next year or two.

Additionally, I want to upgrade what I am playing on now. I use a BenQ RL2455HM, which is amazing for competative gaming, but the colors are rather lacking. I want the 1ms time, with amazing colors. And right now the only monitor that seems to offer that is the Asus.

So should I go for it? The holidays are coming up and I want to treat myself.

Competitive computer gaming is 'overdoing' it in a big box. :)

Good monitors have a very long life and you can easily grow into it. It's the first part of your next best system :) It is a good idea if it will do what you want and there is no better upgrade you could make with the money.

Very true... Thanks. What kibd of monitor do you use?

I don't do competitive gaming, so I have a pair of Vizio 26" 1080p TVs as monitors, that I switch flexibly between computer use and watching sports. I'd prefer a much thinner bezel, but they work fine for me. We are building a good computer at school and the end-user is looking at an ultra-wide 34" display. I'll be interested to see how it performs on their GTX970 SC.

Yeah that should be pretty sweet. Ultra Wide displays are really really nice. If I had a good PC I would get one for sure.
