Am I picking the right memory?

Hello Everyone,

I'm going for a second build with the following components

CPU; 6700k or I7700K (leaning to 6700k due music production)
Motherboard; Gigabyte GA-Z270X-UD5

I want 32gb of memory so I've found G skill F4-3000C14D-32GVK

Do you guys think this memory is the best value for in combination with the motherboard/cpu?

If not, what would you choose?

It will work fine with this motherboard.
7700k and 6700k are pretty much same, but 7700k is faster.

The 6700k will not be better than the 7700k for music production, they are essentially the same cpu but the 7700k has higher stock clocks and tends to overclock a bit better. If you go with the 6700k you could probaly save some money by going with a Z170 board instead of Z270.

That ram is very good, 3000mhz CL14 is pretty fast. But it is expensive, you would likely not notice much of a difference going with a say 3000mhz CL15 or CL16 kit.

Graphics: GTX 970 (may upgrade in future)
Disk1: Samsung 500gb evo 840
Disk2: Seagate 2tb
Disk3: Seagate 2tb

I'm also thinking to go with 6800K (and different mobo), since it has 6 cores and for music production I heard that is better?

I'm not using it really for gaming, but for music production. Would I notice a difference then? If not, better to choose a cheaper Cl16 then?

If you are using ProTools as your DAW, I can give you a link to i7 builds. I use a 6 core with ProTools and it does make use of all cores/threads.

Yes I was assuming you were using this for music production, as you said. No I doubt there would be any difference in the performance of any music production software between 3000mhz CL14 and 3000mhz CL16 ram. If you want more cpu cores I would look at ryzen over intel X99, certainly a lot better value for money. However I have no idea if the software you use will benefit from anything with more cores and threads than an i7 7700k.
