Okay so I only need about $100 more dollars until I can order my computer parts off of newegg and I was wondering if they were all compatible. So here is the parts list.

Would this be fine for gaming I mainly want to play Battlefield 3 and Skyrim when they come out later on

you can do better for the same money

An X4 Phenom 955 is a better gaming cpu , since games cant use 6 cores

The raidmax psu is lower quality

and the Biostar motherboard with the 770 series chipset might be cheap but it is obsolete and cant run the next generation processors that you might want to upgrade to someday .

What is your budget , and what is the resolution of your monitor?

My budget is $600ish Anything at most $700 but I don't really wanna spend that much. as for the resolution I don't really know because I was just going to go to best buy when I built the computer and buy one that seemed decent.

The place to start when planning a gaming computer is the monitor .

You need more graphics power to handle higher resolutions , while a smaller screen would probably melt if you connected a 6950 to it [ not really , but you get the idea ]
Work out what your screen is , and what resolution it runs at first

I kinda agree with some of what outlander says, however. If you do choose to stay with AMD pick a processor that is higher than 3.0GHz
Also if price is a problem then stick with four processors and raise clock speed. Believe me it does make a difference. The only games that are really starting to see the greatness of more than Dual Core processors are the ones programmed specially to do it. That means almost none. Now if someone just told me that I'd be thinking "well gee... what about future games..." Yeah I'm sure all the guys who bought x4 processors 10 years ago were thinking that and still are too.

for a processor I suggest: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor - its 119.00 on newegg.

Also one thing you also might want to think of is computer memory. Its getting very very cheap now. You might want to take a second look at chips and see how much you can drop into your machine for a low price.

Would a 965 or something above 955 be better for the money or is the 955 black edition fine for gaming?

Keep your graphics card selection. Overclockable dual core should be just fine and keep cost down for future Bulldozer upgrade if needed. CD-DVD burner and you are all set.

Looks like a good monitor and its 1080p so a 6870 or 6950 will give you a good or great gaming experience

Gaming computers wont use 8 gig of RAM so no matter how cheap it is its not worth it . Especially if that means having to buy a dual core processor .

But the deals change all the time so some wont be there next week .

Includes the latest AM3+ motherboard . Not quite as many features as the Asrock mentioned above , but the combo saving makes it great value
The power supply is a very high quality unit that will give good clean power
The hard drive is a high performance drive.

If you had extra in the budget you could add an aftermarket cpu cooler , which would let you overclock the 955 but this is not critical to getting good performance

You could also spend the $10 extra and install 8 gig of RAM , but Id only do that if you were editing video or running photoshop . Just make sure the RAM is 1.5 volt or it may not work in that motherboard
