Am I the only one?

I haven't seen this problem in the newsgroup so am wondering if I am the
only one who is not having all their clothing downloads showing up in
the game?
I started saving the pics after I noticed one particular download wasn't
showing up and about 6 out of 17 did not show up.

I haven't checked each piece of clothing but I think they're all there.

I've had a few not show up. Also some hair never showed up. I
haven't figured out why--just deleted the files, if I could find them.

I wish I knew too, it doesn't make sense to me.

There was one particular creator at TSR that had hair styles I really
liked, but NONE of her hair ever showed up in BodyShop, so I just
stopped downloading themn.

has a beautiful teal teddy I wanted and was so disappointed it didn't
show up in my game... that was how I first knew, since I usually
download so many at a time I guess I never missed what wasn't making it in.

It's possible that the file you downloaded was the wrong version of the skin
file. When you create clothing in Bodyshop, the programme creates a folder
for the pictures and other files in the Projects folder. There is a package
file in there. If the creator uploads that file, it will not work in your
game.

Once the creator finalises the project by re-importing into their own game,
the programme then creates a finalised version of the package file which
appears in the Saved Sims folder - that is the one that works in other
peoples' games and is the one the creator should upload. It usually has a
filename with an 8-letter/number code at the beginning. Here's an example:

7fda473f_BrightPinkLippy.package

Although it is possible to change the name after it has been finalised and
some creators do this.

In this case, the package file from the project folder would have the name:

BrightPinkLippy.package

You can, therefore, often tell if you have the file in the right format by
looking at the way it is named.

I do rename my files, BTW, and would name this one:

max_BrightPinkLippy.package

Creators who rename their files usually do something like this - with some
sort of coding to identify the file as coming from them - max is my
'handle'.

Thanks, that's very helpful. I think that was the problem with some
clothing, but I had no idea how to fix it. I tried some renaming but
didn't do it right, I guess. Would I be correct in assuming that it
needs to have an underscore in there somewhere? I don't think I used
one when I tried renaming.

Thanks for that :)! Yes please give us more information on how to rename.
Thanks again!

I had problems with some from Trendy Sims, which had filenames
beginning with "[trendysims]". I'm assuming the bracket was the
problem. I renamed them, but I haven't checked whether they show up
in BodyShop.

No - that's just a habit of mine. I don't think you can have spaces in the
names though.

But, renaming or not, you still have to have downloaded the right file - the
one from the creator's Saved Sims folder. If you've got the one from their
Projects
folder it will never work. You can't fix it by renaming it. Some creators
are still uploading these files.
