AM2 Athlon 64 x2 upgrade?

I currently have a 3800+ Athlon 64 x2, 3 GB PC2-4200 DDR2 ram and a 4670 1gb DDR3 gfx...

Would it be worth my time to max my motherboard out to a 5000+ Ahtlon 54 x2 for another $50? That is the max my MB can handle...

Nope its pointless save your money and build a Phenom II x4 rig.

Depending on what motherboard you have overclock it as much as you can to get better performance not worth the money putting a 5000 for a very small performance gain.

WHat is a good sub $200 CPU MB Ram config?

Or is there a MB/CPU that I could keep my PC2-4200 533mhz ram in for the time being? Something that I could upgrade on later and would be actually worth something then...?

Found a great combo on newegg under 200 check it out will be an awsome improvement and will use you 533 ram til u can upgrade it.
