AM2 Athlon Dual Core

Hey guys so i got a quick question i have an AM2 socket type and i want to get an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ for my computer but when i look on the amd website i can only find type AM3 Athlons so im confused. Do they still make socket AM2 Athlons Dual Cores? Any Answer Welcome

Don't bother; that CPU is seriously out of date. What is your upgrade budget?

what is your current mobo? or if you have an OEM PC (as in made by Dell/HP/Acer etc.) then what is the make/model of your PC? you could well haev an AM2 mobo which supports AM3 processors.

In that case considering your budget and your use, i would go with toms own recommendations, i reckon utilizing what you have already that you could get both the CPU, MOBO MEMORY and GPU.

Yes it should do, but i would also seriously consider going with the total $500 build and get a new case and PSU that is on TOms build.

Thank you all for the help now i can hopefully take this orginally server computer into a proper gaming computer already tossed the old x1650 gpu and threw in a used 9800gt oc'ed ill head to the local TigerDirect this weekend
