AM2 CPU Cooler on a AM2+ CPU?

I was wondering whether it would be possible to hook up a AM2 CPU cooler on a AM2+ CPU (Phenom 2 940)...does anyone have any experience with this?

If i'm not mistaken then the AM2 and AM2+ are the same size/shape, so this should not be a problem? Because the online stores do not add AM2+ to the spec info to all coolers.

Thanks in advance.

AM2 and AM2+ heatsinks use the same mounting system. The only thing I can think of is if the heatsink itself will cool well enough to handle a Phenom 2. I would recommend something from either Thermalright, Arctic Cooling, or Xigmatech.

Thanks that helped me a lot, since I wasn't exactly sure whether I could consider AM2 coolers. I'll check out thermalright and xigmatech as well. I found and interesting one from Arctic cooling the freezer extreme for up to 160W! I'll see if i can find some reviews for it. Thanks again.
