My motherboard on my comp died and I am looking to get a new one. I have a FX-62 and was wondering if I should wait until the Am2+ or am3 boards come out so I could use ddr3 memory or just get a am2 now and stick with ddr2. If that it is the case, what are the best am2 motherboards on the market currently?

From what I've read DDR3 will be premium price, i.e., really expensive, for the next year or 2 and if I remember correctly, there isn't a really significant increase in performance right now. There are some very good reviews of DDR3 on tomshardware and extremetech, sure some other sites as well, and I'd suggest you read these reviews and then decide if you want to wait for the DDR3

I believe BioStar just released an AM2+ board, but it's DDR2 only. like g-paw said, DDR3 will be expensive for some time, and the performance difference isn't huge either.

Might I suggest selling your FX-62 and getting an E4300? You should be able to overclock it on the stock cooler so it atleast matches your FX-62, and then you can save up and buy a good cooler and take it further.

Ouch, that was a low blow.

You don't really have a choice. You can't put an AM2 processor on a AM2+ or AM3 motherboard. However, you can put a Phenom or AM2+ or AM3 CPU on an AM2 motherboard, with performance cuts. If I were you I would either, A. put a 590 motherboard or maybe even a 690G, or B. Screw it and sell the stuff, and get a set of intel stuff. Q6600 and P35 motherboard on July 22.
