Hi, could anyone tell me if there is an AM2/2+ motherboard with UEFI onboard please? (I read the thread from November 2015 about the graphics card and UEFI, but that doesn't solve my particular problem)
I have an athlon 64 x2 5600+ cpu on a Pegatron AP480C-S board with ddr2 RAM, using Windows 10, but I need a board with UEFI so I can upgrade to Windows 11. Ideally, I don't want to go to the expense of upgrading everything just to get Windows 11, so if there is a board that fits the bill....(unfortunately, everything in the system is a bit archaic :) )
Any help much appreciated
Cheers
Rob

Adding to the above, there is no compelling need for Win 11 vs Win 10.

Win 10 is fully supported until late 2025. At which point this system will be 17 years old.

Thanks everyone for your prompt replies - I was figuring it was going to be a "bite the bullet" thing and have to upgrade everything if I wanted Windows 11. For what I use a computer for, I'll live with what I have until the need arises.
Again, many thanks for all the responses
Cheers
Rob

I have a CPU thats literally 10 years newer than that one (Ryzen 7 1800X) that Windows 11 does not support. I'm sorry to say your quest is for naught. Aside from the fact the board you want doesn't exist, the CPU does not have TPM 2.0 which is also required.

Cheers, will just live with what I have as Windows 11 isn't an essential for me

I've been fully immersed in a new, fully compatible Win 11 system for about a week.
Aside from the rounded corners on the windows, and some settings being in different places...there is NO real difference vs Win 10.

All my applications run just as they did before.

No compelling need to jump to Win 11, and its not a case of "oh well, I'll just live with it", like that is a drawback.

Exactly. The 'paint job' is slightly different. The default layouts are slightly different and for the most part all the settings and uses are the same. There are a few things that have been removed and a few things added, but for most general users 10 and 11 will do the same thing. It's only really gamers whom may have a need for TPM2.0 and some production users who'll benefit or suffer from the changes.

As far as 2025 goes and EOL of Win10 support, theres many still using XP, 7, 8.1 etc and quite happy with what they have. The only real thing EOL means is the Microsoft has given up on fixing any more bugs that are found.
