AM2 socket CPU upgrade

Hey Guys! I still have AM2 socket and i want to upgrade it! I don't know what originally my motherboard is but it shows Samsung Electronic Co. DeskTop Systems! it has 1gb ddr2 memory! can this board be upgraded with am3 as shown in some topics here!! and the bios is 1.00parttbl i can't even find this board on the net!! please help me! and can this board support NVIDIA geforce GTX470 GDDR5??

Download a program like Speccy, CPU-Z or even both, use them, and either take snapshots to post here, or copy down what CPU, motherboard, RAM, power supply unit you have for starters.

Is this a pre built computer? Dell, HP, etc?

AM2 socket does not support AM3. Socket AM2+ does though, but only a few models that were short lived before being discontinued themselves. You are at the end of your rope with your current system. New system highly recommended, since the parts to upgrade your current system would most likely be more expensive then just buying new at this point. Even an APU budget system would be better. The parts you want to upgrade were discontinued about 8 years ago, so it's a waste of money unless you are getting the parts for free IMO, lol.

A found a motherboard that looks like mine in an Korean website! it's Samsung Desktop systems Saturn 60s Rev mp1.0! it's an custombuilt pc so no brand!
Specs :
AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ 2.20GHz
1gb TwinMos Ram 800mhz DDR2
Geforce 7300GT
Sentimental 450 watts PSU

I know it's kinda bit outdated but all parts here were sold very cheap but little outdated!
so any suggestions for a maximum upgrade?
and will the Nvidia GEFORCE GTX470 run smooth with my system!! the motherboard says it supports up to 16x PCIE and 8GB

It is very hard to answer your question without getting the specs of that motherboard and how high a tdp cpu it will accept. I searched for it and only found asian websites with no english.

The best cpu you could get without overclocking would be the Phenom x4 9950. However, that has a tdp of 125w so I would try to get some sort of info on that motherboard first.

A Phenom x3 8750 is another option. It has a 95w tdp.

There are other options, like the Athlon 64 x2 6400+, but again, 125w tdp...

More RAM of the same specs would help you as well. Make sure they are the same in all areas or get a new kit altogether.

Regarding the graphics card...I don't know if I would put that card in with that power supply. It looks a little weak to me.

A GTX 750 might be your best way if you plan on keeping the old rig running, paired with more ram and an upgraded cpu.

Of course, the best option would be a whole new rig, but if that isn't possible, I suggest the above solutions. I do have some sympathies with you because I, too, enjoy keeping these old rigs running and using them as daily drivers when possible. Just try to get more info on that motherboard if you can.

Actually i found an info in a korean website then google translated it but there was no information regarding on the CPU socket power just some specs like these:
Support AMD athlon, sempron,fx

4DDr2 800 mhz
just that!!
And BTW thanks for helping me i really really really appreciated your Help! one last question, Does a 600 watts PSU could help when i bought the GTX 470??

Hmm, no phenom mentioned? Yet it mentions FX....

Have you tried downloading and using Speccy? or CPU-Z?

As for the PSU, the power rating is not what I was concerned about, rather the brand of the psu. A 500 psu will easily handle that 470, so long as it is at least a bronze rated psu. Silver, Gold or Platinum, with an 80+ certification even better.

the guy is asking a question and wants advice not people saying lol and ripping him saying his equipment is useless, i got a ddr2 gigabyte board 8 gig quad core amd and a tasty ddr5 gpu blow your shitty ddr3 out the water well cooled and overclocked wonderfully so help the man out or he can ask me for advice cos i came here for advice
