AM3+ - AM4 Cooler Compatability

Are AM3+ and AM4 cooler backwards compatible? I cannot find any coolers that support AM4 at all, yet I see plenty of people doing builds with the same coolers I've already looked at and seen weren't compatible.

If a cooler uses the stock amd mountings - ie the spring loaded bracket - it will fit.

If it uses a custom backplate & custom mounting system it won't fit.

Cooler master & corsair are supplying am4 mounting kits now with new stock , most CPU cooler makers are offering free am4 brackets for older coolers with proof of purchase of the cooler, ryzen CPU & a compatible motherboard.

My Silentiumpc Fortis 3 Malik backplate has been despatched to me (I never expected this from a small firm like them in all honesty for a cooler which hardly sold in great numbers)

Most brands like Cooler Master, Cryorig and Noctua have released AM4-compatible brackets for their CPU coolers.
