Thats sounds a lot like what I have done in the past. One disadvantage is that now I am in the position of wishing I had gone with an Intel system because the performance is so much better. Hopefully, AMD will start to catch up but there is no sign of that happening in the near future. Also, the current indications are that Intel is going to stick with the platforms that they have for CPU sockets and most enthusiast chipsets will remain compatible with the next generation so the upgrade path should be good for a while. For ~ $250 you could get into an entry level gaming system with the following to get started.

CPU: Intel Core i3-2100T http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116394 $134.99

Motherboard: ASRock...

Yes, that motherboard will support your CPU. BTW I think you have made a typo there Did you mean Athlon II 235e or maybe Athlon II 255e both of which are on the CPU support list but not Athlon 253e?

Can you give a little more info. about your current system. It's quite likely that your motherboard only supports DDR2 RAM and the M5A97 motherboard only supports DDR3. You may need to upgrade the RAM as well. It is very common to need to upgrade CPU, RAM and Motherboard all at once because of that.

Budgets 250$, main purpose Gaming not really heavy stuff tho mostly Role Playing, and Real Time Strat, i do all my shooter gaming on my console, i think once i get the new GPU i can play most rpg,rts games on high settings on my current MOBO, then im gana get a new case to put it in it already supports my current MIcro-atx, and eventually just upgrade the cpu mobo, and ram in the future. Think that sounds like a plan?
