Am3+ Cooler on Am4

I had a Deepcool Gamaxx 300 that I used on my fx6300 and upon getting my ryzen cpu which has am4 bracket I installed it fine but what I want to know is that will it damage the socket or the cpu and its the amd clip mechanism.

As long you managed to install it without problems (it had proper railings) and it covers you CPU plate then everything is fine and it wont make any harm. Just in case you should monitor your temperatures to see if your CPU is not overheating with it .

Idle temperatures didnt change much but the on-load temperatures changed pretty drastically. Like around 55 on Wraith Stealth to 45 on deepcool. I used some aftermarket paste from CM.

Well if the temperature is lower then its good for you With those temps you are fine.

But the installation was tighter than on the am3+ socket. Or was it just me.

As i said if temps are okay then you are fine.

it might be not as much efficient as the AM4 cooler beacuse of measurement of AM4 but still its okay ;D

Deepcool says its already supported since it uses the old proprietary Amd latch.
