Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my cpu because its pretty crappy and really slow, my motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-HD2 http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-F2A68HM-HD2-rev-10#ov and my gpu is a Zotac GTX 1060 3gb, what would the best cpu to go with these 2? Or would it be best to change my motherboard too, but there are many complications and expenses that come with that and i'd rather not have to. Regards, Will.

You can mix and match any of the 3 systems I posted. Here is a 4 core with 8 threads support. Is not as good as the 1600 but should match most of the i5's. On the windows I just updated my laptop last week from 8.1 to that new creator edition.

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1500X 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£175.15 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: Asus - PRIME B350-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard (£79.15 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory (£59.40 @ Aria PC)
Power Supply: Antec - EarthWatts Green 380W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£47.97 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £361.67...
That motherboard isn't AM2+ nor compatibly to AM3. Its an FM2 APU motherboard. To support a new CPU get a new motherboard. I suggest an AM4 system. What is your budget? Little overclock and its going to match most i5's.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. If i'm going to have to upgrade my motherboard I think I may aswell go all out and change everything as most parts are getting outdated, I already have a gpu, case, monitor, keyboard and mouse etc which I would like to keep, so I would need a new Psu, cpu, hdd motherboard and cpu, would you be able to provide links to the best parts for those 5 things, my budget is around £350 to £450 all in. Also if i'm replacing that many parts will I need to buy a new copy of windows, I currently have Windows 7 64 bit, no disc but I have the activation key, how would I go about putting that onto the new HDD without having to buy a new copy if thats possible.

In that case lets get you a good system. Here is a 6 core build. For the key you just have to try it and see. You could also try a free update to windows 10 moving to the new system. I suggest making a windows 10 install USB and just use the key as many say just the key will work with an install.

Is there anyway you can bring the price down a little on those 4 items so I'm able to add a new HDD and incase I need to buy a new windows licence . My main use will be gaming, so the CPU and GPU is my main focus but I already have a high end GPU so a CPU which won't bottleneck my GPU is key, I would like to get the cheapest motherboard and PSU that will get the job done, nothing fancy.

Also I thought it was too late to upgrade to windows 10 for free, is that still possible?
