[SOLVED] AM3 CPU ON AM2 motherboard

hi, i just want to ask if my am3 socket type cpu can run on its full performace on an am2 motherboard
CPU:AMD ATHLON II X2 240
MOTHERBOARD: ALIVENF6G-VSTA

No, it can't run at all on it. Those are different sockets

actually im using it right now, they actually fit.
i just have to update my bios to a beta version that asrock release.

Actually I just looked back, should work okay. I wasn't as up to date with builds when they made the am2 to am3 switch. Learn something almost every day. Should be fine

It must be AM2+ socket with appropriate BIOS to work with AM3 processors. AM2(+) processors will not even fit into AM3 socket due to couple of extra pins.

it really is an AM2 socket motherboard, even i cant believe that it worked.
