Question AM3+ CPU with AM3 Cooler

I have an AMD FX-8370 CPU with an AM3+ chipset, I was wondering if the Corsair Liquid cooler I bought would work because it says AM3 but not AM3+. Its a Corsair H115i Pro Cooler

AM3 and AM3+ use the same mounting hardware, so it would be fine.

On a side note, I dont see the logic in investing $120+ for a cooler on a dated platform instead of putting that to a performance upgrade.

What would you suggest ? Its been a few years since ive built a PC

If you can invest the money, grab a modern Ryzen 5 processor, new mobo, and RAM.
Its going to cost a bit more, but it will be a substantial upgrade from an FX series processor.

If you cant afford it, a semi decent air cooler can get you by for now.

Any combinations you would personally suggest ? I do a lot of modding and processor heavy tasks
