I have a H-RS880-uATX (Aloe) Motherboard. It is a AM2+ or AM3 compatible. I know AM3+ can fit into AM3 and vice versus, but would it actually be able to run, or do I need to modify bios for anything specific? (Sorry if this is the wrong forum)

Specs:

Old CPU fried (hence the thread), buying a AMD FX-8350

EVGA 650 Watt power supply

GTX 1660 6Gb

H-RS880-uATX (Aloe) Motherboard

128gb SSD

1 TB SDD

Solution
Sorry, you cannot use the FX-8350 in that motherboard. Per the HP product specifications that motherboard ONLY supports the following CPU options.

  • AMD Phenom II X4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (D)
  • AMD Phenom II X3 7xx/7xxe Triple-Core (H)
  • AMD II Athlon X4 6xx/6xxe (P)
  • AMD II Athlon X3 4xx/4xxe ®)
  • AMD II Athlon X2 2xx/2xxe ®)
If you want to use any of the FX processors, you will need an aftermarket motherboard. Most of the OEM boards like that one are severely limited by the fact that the OEM has not ever added further CPU support through BIOS updates or the hardware itself was limited by the socket implementation.
