My Gigabyte Motherboard failed on me , I am trying to find a replacement but they are hard to find,
I have .990FXA-UD3 Gigabyte .

EVGA GeForce GTX 960 02G-P4-2966-KR 2GB SSC GAMING w/ACX 2.0+
, Whisper Silent Cooling Graphics Card

AMD FX 8-core 8320 3.5 Ghz 16MB cache

Win 10 64home

What other Motherboard would you say would replace this one?

( This was handed down to me my my son, I am not a big gamer ) ( Splintercell blacklist maybe )

Will any AM3 MB work for me?

Canada Computers say i have to buy AM4 new CPU and RAM :(
as they can't get a AM3+ for me anymore as they are out of issue,
( I highly recommend Canada computers, great store, although i did not like this advice, lol )

Thank you for your quick response, I have updated the post,

Many thanks

AMD FX 8-core 8320 3.5GHz

Canada Computers is wrong.
AMD FX 8 core is an AM3 CPU.
Which AMD FX 8 core do you have?

They gave him advice to go for new build instead of finding used AM3+ mobo.

Don't throw good money after bad. The FX is not worth trying to keep going unless you are really tight on a budget. Any Ryzen AM4 will be far better for the money compared to the FX. The Canada Computers guys are giving you the best advice.

About the only way to get a fx-990 mobo will be buying used, and that is buyer beware.
I have seen the gigabyte fx990 ud3 going for $169.00 used.
But that will be the only way to go. Used
I have the ud3 and have had the 970 boards with a 8350 on them.
970's are ok but Don't expect any real overclocking on them.
Good Luck

Crosslhs,
( not sure why my name has changed , Christopher7 here, lol )
I am not a computer repair guy, but i have built a few.

PC just suddnely stopped working.
All My fans turn slowly all the time as when the pc normally started for the first second, and it is not getting to POSt
Nothing appears on the screen at all.

I removed RAM and installed one back a a time in different slots to no avail
Removed GPU and put in an old one
Replaced power supply .

So it seems to me to be the MB or the CPU, from my research it is unlikely the CPU

Thanks

Head spinning,

My RAM is 1333HZ , can i persume that a MB that is more than that will work ?

( I do not see the AZrock one :( for that price)

if i understand right, ...

I need AM3+
FX support
at least 1333 MHz DDR3 ram
( not sure where 8320 comes in )

and i'd like to pay no more that $100

Google is having trouble with this, lol

Thanks again

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128602 ,

found this but not sure if the RAM is right

Looks like a good motherboard, possibly as good as you'll find for an 8320 with nicely finned heatsinking on the VRM. It's spec'd to support up to 1866 (2000 over clock) memory speed so your 1333 RAM would be good on it. 1333 isn't very demanding, even for DDR3.

Gigabyte still obviously lists even the more recent version on their site (https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/GA-990FXA-UD3-rev-40#ov), & you could always try their list of motherboard vendors (https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Buy?ck=2#101142000,,1-0,1-0,1-0) to see if any are in stock.

Basically, though, I would only recommend replacing the motherboard if a) every other piece (CPU, GPU, PSU, etc.) is definitely working, & b) you don't have the cash for a full system replacement. I'm actually running a similar system (using rev. 4.0 of that motherboard) with my FX-8320. It's working fine...but if something happened to the motherboard, I'd replace the CPU, motherboard & RAM at this point.

Thanks again for your help ,all,.

WHEN I GET ANOTHER MOTHERBOARD , Is my system going to fire up with no issues from my Hard Drive with windows 10 on it?

Would REPAIR option for windows 10 help?

The answer is...it depends, no assurances. So assume it won't and be prepared for a full re-install of Windows and applications with back ups of important data.

Hello All
Thank you all so much for all your help, I NEEDED IT :)

I bought a GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P (rev. 2.0) , installed using my same HD , and all is good,
It booted up fine and then i put in the CD and downloaded all drivers from the CD

( I am pleased it was the MB and not the CPU, )

Thank you again,

Christopher
