AM3+ memory limit

Looking at the new and soon to be available Bulldozer CPUs as a base for a new workstation to be used exclusively for Photoshop and Nikon NX.
all the motherboards Ive seen so far are limited to just 4 dimm slots, a total of just 16 gb.
Is there a reason for this apparent limit?
Any help appreciated

What you are reporting is pretty common in my experience, for hardware release... somebody will shoot for the moon eventually.

Im aware of the software memory limit thanks so went with win 7 ultimate 64 bit and 4 core Intel cpu.I could not wait for AMD to get their kit to market
Still only using 16gb ram in 4 slots but for now thats a big improvement on my old dual AMD MP set up
