Hello. I recently built a new Gaming PC. I had bought all the right parts. There was one small problem, the WiFi card. I had bought one because the motherboard didn't have WiFi. I found out that it didn't fit because the graphics card covered the PCI-e x1 slot. I have been looking for a cheap motherboard that has 802.11ac wifi but failed. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

My budget is £40 to £50. Windows 7 Pro. THANK YOU!

Solution
so you're telling us that your board has missing parts??? that's.... not a fun weekend! i know some board manufacturers skip on memory slots or extra raid parts, but to skip over a legacy PCI slot? that makes no sense.

you're sure you don't have that third slot? just to be sure, we're talking about the left-most one in this pic. on this revision of board, it's white. on newer revisions, they're all black - but that left-most slot should still be there!

Unfortunately no PCI slots

if it's microATX, then you either have an available PCI-Express slot or a PCI (legacy) slot - or a really awful board that has no slots. you can easily run wifi from PCI or even external USB. the data rate is going to be far less than what the PCI bus (or PCI-Express bus) can handle.

Both slots (x16 and x1) are covered by a GTX 750Ti

so? use the last slot, the legacy PCI big white one, which is perfectly adequate for this use.

It doesnt appear to be there. I'll provide some pictures

how is it not there??? the part number of your board says it's there. you should have 16x, 1x, legacy. should be near the bottom of the case.

Now I'm really confused! I have no idea how this could have happened! PC Part Picker says it has the legacy slot! I looked on google images and they all have the legacy slot too!!!!!! :-(

if the slot IS there, then why wouldn't the WiFi card fit? make sure it's a PCI card and not a PCI-Express card. is the graphics card TRIPLE width? or are the USB / USB3 headers along the edge of the board getting in the way? i've had the USB3 plug interfere with an auxiliary graphics card.

No. The wifi card just doen't fit in. Ill jut get a usb adapter

i'm curious how or why the wifi card doesn't fit. very very few graphics cards are any wider than 2 slots, so that shouldn't be the cause. and as long as you're using a PCI legacy card and not a PCI Express card, it should fit well enough. even with cables plugged into the audio / usb / firewire ports along that edge of the motherboard, a wifi card is thin enough not to interfere with those parts.

but yeah, you could just go USB. that way it's movable to any other computer you have. not as strong or powerful, and possibly a bit more lag, but certainly more flexible.
