hi,

I built a pc with a Ryzen 5 2600 and a Tomahawk B350, i understood there were some issues with the compatibility and so i also ordered a AM4 Bootkit as well, so i have now received the bootkit and i have updated the motherboard, and now i have put my 2600 back in, and i still cant boot at all, i'm not even getting past POST with it.

Any ideas on what it could be ? maybe the latest Bios isnt the correct one?

cheers

Make sure you are using the correct bios revision.

What RAM are you using? The 3xx series chipset is not RAM friendly and your system may not be posting due to the RAM and not the CPU. Check your RAM and see if it on the memory QVL provided by the motherboard.

I would also try running one stick of RAM at a time in each DIMM to see if it can post.

I dont think it is the RAM has it is posting fine when i use the loan processor that AMD sent me, i am using the latest BIOS revision and the board accepted it and showed up as the bios version when i went back into it

Yep, if it is posting with the loaner, then it is not the RAM.

I didn't pull the battery, maybe ill give that a go, been struggling with it for ages and i thought the BIOS update was all i needed, sadly it looks like the cpu is faulty, i cant think why else it would be doing this.

Maybe i will take it to a computer repair shop

The board is trying to run the loan cpu, you need to pull the CMOS battery, use the CMOS clearing pins, then refit the battery and boot into the BIOS, which should now have been reset to its "Safe" settings.

i realised the ryzen doesnt support integrated graphics, and i had removed my gpu as i was running it barebones, it was a simple fix but very frustrating so if anyone else has that issue give it a check!

You are not the first person to make this mistake. Glad you sorted it out.

Haha, that is a riot! Happens to everyone, but it seems to happen to me more than most.
