Question [Amateur] Detect Audio -> Activate Lights

I had no idea where to put this, but this seems to be the most logical thread. Keep in mind I have little to no experience with electronics...

I have a radio scanner with a headphone jack and some LED lights that plug into a wall socket. I'm trying to figure out how I would make the lights automatically activate when audio from the radio is detected. I could turn the lights off manually too, that wouldn't be a problem. Any advice is much appreciated, thank you!

Just google "audio light trigger" there are projects and premade options.
