News Amazon Saved Over 10PB of Vital Ukrainian Data Using Snowball Edge SSDs

Uh, no. I've been there. I can assure you that there was exactly zero vital data in Ukraine. Unless you count the bribery records and such. But I'm sure all that will get "destroyed" anyway.

AWS shipped custom-built Snowball Edge solid-state drives to Poland and then drove them to Ukraine.
With these "Snowball Edge" boxes being shuttled in and out of an active war zone, I'm a little surprised there were no "snowball's chance in hell" jokes in that article.

Interesting that a large part of the data were physically transferred in a mobile storage unit. Seems like the cloud was designed to avoid such things.

How many 4 TB M.2 SSDs can fit in a suitcase ? (10PB is about 2500 4TB drives)

For those interested in how this goes in more detail -
