AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su recently attended an activity held by JP Morgan, predicting that AMD could earn about 20% of the share in the desktop processor in 2018, while the share in mobile processors are expected to be 18%.

In addition, Su also said AMD's processor share could even double in the next few years, which is up to 40%. AMD achieved $1.65 billion in GAAP revenue and net profit of $81 million in the first quarter, reported in FuninUSA, a website which continuously provides product-reviews and global news.

According to Mercury Research, AMD's share of desktop processors has grown from 8% in 2016 to 12% at the end of 2017.

Currently, the Ryzen 2 generation processor is on the market, and soon the second generation of RYZEN THREADRIPPER will be available to customers. Also, the enterprise-level product EPYC will be updated within this year, according to the report from FuninUSA.

Next year, AMD will start deploying 7nm Zen 2 architecture processor, while Intel will only have 10nm Cannon Lake available.

Great to know... and now for the other half:

Here's how the company did compared with what Wall Street expected:

Intels Earnings: Quarterly Revenue: $16.07 billion vs. $15.08 billion forecast by Thomson Reuters - Shares of Intel are up 14.8 percent year-to-date. The company's total revenue for the quarter was up 9 percent year over year, with earnings up 32 percent since the first quarter of 2017.

Just some perspective...They are after all just companies...and I certainly hope AMD keeps this up as we will have proper compition which will drive better products and prices...

Wait...so all of Ryzen only increased the market share by 4 points? With the amount of praise and hype in favour of AMD one would think that ryzen alone accounted for 20% of market share...it only did 4% better then [strike]bull[/strike]faildozer...
