AMD 1080ti equivilant ?

Hello,

I’ve just brought a new 4K monitor which had free sync.

I have a RX480 8gb nitro at the moment. Surprisingly I can play - few games in high settings at 1440p, but 4K I get about 20 - 30 fps, I would like to be solid 60fps in 1440 and possible 4K.

Are there any cards less than the 1080ti which can handle 4K?

I know 1080ti would be the way to go, but is their a AMD equivilant as I’d like to be able to use FreeSync.

There is none atm. The closest you can get is with a vega 64 which is pretty much at the 1080 level of performance (give or take a bit).

Even Vega 64 has its downsides. AMD said a couple of years ago they wouldn't be focusing on the highest end of the gpu market. So ironic, you can buy all these cheap freesync 4k & 1440p 144Hz monitors but no decent gpu's to drive them.

Neither would I but I don't see any other way AMD GPUs will compete with 1080ti........if they ever get Crossfire working on Vega.

On modern nvidia cards, fastsync will work with any monitor.
It eliminates screen tearing without the latency penalty.
If you are looking to upgrade your RX480, something like a GTX1080 would be good.

To be honest I brought the monitor for the 4K. I’m not fussed on free sync, just wanted to ask the question.

Looks like I’ll go 1080ti. Had nothing but problems for the first few months with my RX480 black screening and crashing constantly. Stable for the last few updates but wasn’t happy when I got it.
