AMD 1333 running slow

I just bought an AMD 1333 and an Asus A7M266 w/512MB of PC2100 DDR Ram. I have tried both Win2K and Win98 SE with all the patches from the different companies and cannot get this computer give any good performance in Games (Unreal, Quake, or Deus Ex) or 3Dmark2001. Has anybody here had the same type of problems? In 3Dmark2001 it scores 1076-1100 on the default test running win98 SE. My P3 1 GHz running WIN2K scores about 3400 on the same test. I hope this is the right board for this question. Thanks in advance for any info you can give. I am using a Hercules Geforce 2 GTS 64MB video card.

In the 3Dmark test it is running 1024x768 32bit color, double frame buffer, compressed texture format, 24 bit z-buffer depth, and d3d hardware T&L.

Great post...DORK. You are such a loser.

Why would you post this question without giving your video card specs?

What res/bpp are you running 3Dmark @??

I have an AMD 1GHZ on an A7V133 with 512MB
of RAM and a G400 32MB card and I get
about 1553 on 1024x768 and 2091 on 640x480

What version of the 4in1 drivers are you using?
Turbo or standard? 4.29 is stable for me.

Intel Components, AMD Components... all made in Taiwan!

G400 might explain the low score. but I did not know that card sucked that bad.

Break your machine down, remove all non-essential hardware and use just a video card. see if that helps the score at all.

Dakota74,

Check what kind of chipset you're using. Looks like your motherboard uses the AMD761 chipset. Since this isn't a Via chipset, you'll have to go to AMD to get the drivers Go to http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/bin/ and look for the AGP drivers. They should be about half way down the page.

READ the "Driver Information" link on the driver you are going to use and make sure it is designed for your chipset and READ the instructions on how to install it. Shouldn't be too hard but there may be special instructions.

I had to do this with my roommate's system cause he has the same chipset, but he was getting a whopping score off 700 on 3Dmark2001. One I installed the AGP miniport drivers he was cruising at a score of 3600.

Good Luck

Zitch,

Thanks for the link to AMD's driver site. I had downloaded a file with the same name elsewhere and nothing. When I installed the drivers from AMD it started correctly finding all the chipsets! Score tripled after installing those drivers. Thanks to you and everyone else that responed with tips.

Yeah well what can I say.. I bought it when it first
came out just for the EMBM.. it was such a cool little
thing back then.

Doesn't really matter to me, I don't play that many
games to justify buying a new card anyway since I can
still play alot of games 1024x768 just fine.
