AMD 2.5 quad refusing to boot OS after OC

I have a 9850 phenom and a MSI K9A2 mobo. I've attempted using the BIOS to up the clock speed, and at any level past stock (2.5) it won't load the OS. The BIOS starts up fine and it POSTs and everything, but the OS stops cold the minute it loads. Any suggestions? Im using 4(2x2)gb of OCZ reaper RAM and a 3870. Thanks.

Try booting from a LINUX LIVE CD and see what happens. You'll know which is messed up - the hardware or OS.
