Hello Everybody.

I just got my new computer with 2400g apu. Everything is fine, except for one thing and that is: When I go in device manager, under display adapters it says: Microsoft basic display adapter. Shouldn't it be vega 11 or something like that? I did fresh install win 10, checked for win updates, and updated all automatically. Then I went to AMD and updated chipsets for my b350. So what now? Anyone experienced anything similar with these new apu's ?

Solution
That's a very strange behaviour indeed. Does the system keep running in the background even after the black screen (i.e. can you still get sounds to play etc.)?
Do you have all Windows Updates installed?

Your HDD/SSD as well as your RAM have been checked for errors or not? If both of these are okay, I'd try booting Windows to safe mode and use DDU to get rid of anything related to the graphics drivers. After that, boot Windows normally once more and attempt the installation again.

Hi Calvin! Ty for your response, but unfortunately, I already tried installing radeon vega graphics driver from the exact web-page you linked and I got black screen while installing it. I tried it over and over again, but every time I get black screen, a cant boot into windows and have to reinstall OS. But i'm sure that installing graphics driver should resolve the problem, just don't know how to do it without getting black screen.

Seconding what Calvin said. Windows Update killed my graphics drivers several times after I forgot to update them for a while. Only after the third time I chose to disable driver updates by Windows and it really is the way to go...

Edit: Temporary black screens during driver installation are normal. Try waiting like 10 minutes after the screen goes black to see whether the signal comes back. Once I had to wait a staggering 15 minutes until I got an image again during a driver update 😛

Hmmm... last time I waited like 7-8 minutes and it seemed like a very long time, so I just reinstalled os again. What happens is: It starts updating and after a while just restarts by itself, I hear beep sound and after that it just blacks out and even green light on my monitor becomes orange with the message: "No signal detected". I'll give it another try in 30 minutes, and will be more patient for sure. Thanks for trying to help me out!

Okay, i'm still having the same problem. I start the driver instalation, and it says something like: installing amd display adapter, and after that my monitor just loses signal. I waited for like 30 minutes but nothing changed...
Please help me out!

Solution
Okay, sorry for not answering earlier, i was pretty busy at work. So, first of all, to answer to your questions... Yes, it seemed like system was running in the background, even tho the screen blacked out after updating gpu drivers, since i was getting the beep sounds after pressing shift a couple of times.

Also, i had all windows updates installed.

Ssd is 100% healthy with no errors at all (tested with crystal disk), it's brand new.

I tried to boot into safe mode after my screen blacked out, and i was able to go all the way to windows without any problems at all. Device manager showed rx vega graphics card this time, but after a restart, again, i got black screen.

So i was getting really hopeless, i was so disappointed... Then as a last resort after i've ran out of optios, i swapped my dvi monitor cable to a vga and i got f...ing signal on my f...ing monitor. God i was so angry, but also relieved at the same time. Now it works flawlessly. Cheers!

Did you also change the output on the motherboard from DVI to VGA? Then it's probably the GPU of the 2400G that doesn't work properly. If it bothers you (I for one wouldn't ever want to use VGA again in my life), RMA the 2400G.

If you only swapped ports on the monitor and used a DVI to VGA adapter to connect to the monitor's VGA port: I have no idea how such a thing can happen, but you should try a different monitor and/or cable to see if it resolves the problem.

glad you at least got it working somehow 😀

Yeah it's vga to vga cable if that's what you meant. So you think apu is faulty? Hmm i'll have to test it with my friends monitor or another dvi cable first. I thought the problem was caused by my monitor's dvi output.
