With all these numbers... wished AMD just renamed the entire Phenom line to something else, considering how "Phenom" failed anyways. The new model numbers make more sense - but

Phenom II X4 955 or Phenom II X2 545 ugh!

X(core) Model number would be fine. You knew how many cores you were getting.

I'd have gone with something like this, Using "Alpga" as some sort of new name.

Alpha X2 120
Alpha X3 120
Alpha X4 120

Start the numbers low... the X(core #) makes sense.

Glad to see they are getting some speed up from mature process, I hope the can put more pressure on intel. One thing that sticks out though is that they are really tightly binning things. 3.0, 3.1 & 3.2? I think intel is usually at least a bit more spread out than that, aren't they? I mean when I got my quad 6600 it was 2.4 and the next higher one was like 2.6 or 2.66 the one after that was 2.93 or 3.0.

[citation][nom]neiroatopelcc[/nom]how can the 955 be 200mhz faster than the 950 if the first runs 3.2ghz and the latter 3.1ghz?[/citation]
will be 200 MHz faster than the current top-of-the-line Phenom II offering
The current top of the line is the 940. 950 is 100 but is canceled so its 200 back to the 940.

I hope the Phenom II's are good! I am sick of this reign of intel, even I own an Intel's Q6600, great processor though!
Go on AMD!

I really hope AMD does make a comeback and shows off it's power.

Now the big question will be. Is 1mb l2 cache x2 better than 512kb x2 + 6 mb l3?

Wondering what the pricetag is gonna look like.

Ill admit, I love my E8400 Wolfdale, but Im still an AMD man at heart.

It almost seems to me there will be dual and tripple core phenoms available?
I have no use for quadcores, since I don't game often, but a dual/tri-core could be very interesting!

Or integrate the number of cores into the name:
Alpha 100
Alpha 200
Alpha 400

Change the last number for speed and the 2nd number for generations. Like 101, 102, 103 are faster versions in the same generation then 110 is the lowest speed of the second gen. If they want a low power line add an L in front of the number, for Black edition or whatever they want to call the high ends add a B or an X in front of the number
Alpha X409 :)
