Question AMD 5 8600g

I bought a Asus Strix x870e motherboard an putting it together as cheapest way possible. Going to use the AMD 5 8600g for now just to get started and later I will up grade to the fastest cpu I can get later. My question is I wanted to install a Gen 5 m.2 , 1 TB for my OS drive and x2 Gen 4 for storage drive . Will the Gen 5 still work but not at its fullest potential?? That is OK for me that's what I wanted so when I do change over to a AMD 9 9500x I can drop it in an run .

Yes, Gen 5 drive will run at Gen 4 speeds until you drop in a PCIe 5.0 capable CPU.

2x gen 4 drive will be equivalent to a gen 3 drive in performance, but only if you install a gen 4 or higher drive.
