Hello all,

Just when i think i have my build tied up and decided the doubt in my mind creeps in, does anyone have any concrete opinions on what i should pair with what i have currently purchased. I had decided to get the 5900x releasing tomorrow but now i am unsure if this is wise and i am just buying into (at a cost) the hype.

CPU:
MOTHERBOARD:
GPU: nVidia 3070 Founders Edition
RAM: 32gb of Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3600
COOLER: NZXT KRAKEN Z63
STORAGE: Samsung 970 EVO 1TB
PSU: Corsair RM750x
CASE: Corsair 4000x

Looking to spend around £500 on CPU and pair it with a £250 Motherboard

Thanks for any replies.

The 5900X is easily better all around, and it makes no difference if the processor and video card are both AMD...
If you go with an AMD processor I wouldn't get an nvidia GPU. I think the AMD cpu you mentioned was the new one that is going to be able to do the smart technology pairing benefit with AMDs new GPUS, so if you go newer AMD CPU then you would want to get an AMD GPU to benefit from that pairing.
Otherwise, I'd look for a i9-i10 gen processor to pair with a 3000 series!
(Planning on rocking a 3080 myself, 3080ti depending how long this god forsaken shortage lasts, running with a i9900k)

Yeah i already have the 3070, starting to think i have been waiting for this 5000 series... foolishly

Well, it's not like intel is a bad choice! Or AMD will still work fine, you just miss out on the benefit of that smart sharing.
You could always opt for the amd cpu and sell your GPU whenever, to buy an amd one!
Regardless you'll be able to run 2k res's at high frames, if that's your goal. Mine is 4k 60+ fps, which I think the 3070 will achieve atleast in high quality, maybe not ultra.

The 5900X is easily better all around, and it makes no difference if the processor and video card are both AMD. That's a total myth. I have an AMD 3900X + Nvidia 2060 RTX and it's excellent in performance

Hard to imagine the 5600X (or 5800X, for those obsessed with extra cores for the vague concept of 'the future') not being plenty for any gaming rig...

Even if the rumors of the 10900K falling to AMDs new products in gaming are correct, the 10900K/10850K do not suddenly become considered 'slow'....

Agree fully! -in sense, that someone who already has 10900K/10850K would think about switching to AMD.
However, when building new system, AMD has all advantages right now: faster and more power efficient comes to mind first.

And agree with beorn (post above). Having latest AMD CPU and GPU has performance advantage, but I don't expect that big differences in real world usage -you just keep RX3070 and wait for reviews :)
