Amd 8320 or 8350 No Budget Better Buy

If you have no budget worries and want to clock the 8350 up to 5.0ghz then get that one. Most will tell you that the 8320 is a better bargain because you can clock it up to the 8350. I went with the 8350 because I wanted to OC high as possible.

AMD didn't bin the different CPUs of each family in the Bulldozer FX series differently from each other, so I doubt that they did in the Piledriver family either. For example, the FX-8120 and 8150 overclocked to the same frequency range at the same voltage range and the same was true with the FX-6200/6100 CPUs and the FX-4170/4100 CPUs.

They might have done this differently with FX-83xx, but I find it unlikely (although I haven't seen conclusive comparisons yet for Piledriver). This is something that AMD did a lot in previous generations too.

Its possible that AMD tests their cpu's before they decide which model to turn it into. If a cpu is a 8350 than it'll more likely be a better chip at overclocking. Depending on how good their production is, they'll turn more of the perfect chips into lower models because they need to fill the demand for the lower end. So a 8320 you purchase might be better at overclocking than a 8350 someone else purchases. Since you don't you aren't budget constrained than just go with the 8350, it'll more likely be able to overclock better.

8350 is 219.99 and the 8320 189.99 on amazon what do you recommend domyou like the 8350?

There is a huge dependence on what you're doing that determines what CPU wins in addition to how you define winning.

I did asus m5a99x evo i believe is that good will a ssd run good with that and boot quick and overclock good

if you have no budget why the hell are you looking into AMD cpus. thats extremely silly. Especially if you are gaming. the 8350 does not beat any current gen i5 or i7 consistently at anything. get yourself a good i5 or i7 and enjoy the better performance at a lower power draw and cooler temps.

+1 to blazorthon

I'm personally quite a fan of the new PD FX-83XX chips due to their value. Power consumption and gaming aside, once they're overclocked, they're almost near i7 performance. Which I find outstanding for the price point; definitely something budget-conscious workstation builders would love IMO.

However, if what DJDecibel said is true, I would definitely go with the FX-8350 for the OC potential.

If you don't have a budget between the two choices, definitely grab the FX-8350 IMO, I wouldn't want to take the risk for a chip that doesn't overclock as well with the FX-8320.

Yes I'm very happy with my purchase and have an OC of 4.8ghz currently and will work on the 5.0ghz. Does everything I need it to do and has been a great performer in the games that I play. I run Nvidia surround and it made the much more buttery smooth when I installed this processor.

hey cant argue with the all knowing but hey spend 220 on a chip that is slower then an i5 in gaming in general. if it was so good it would be sold out right now just like intels are right after launch.

Its not slower than the i5 its either on par or go check it out yourself

Very nice motherboard and better then one I use. Use will have no problems OC with that board. You won't notice any difference with using the 7950 in a 2.0 slot either.
