AMD 8320 overclocked to 5Ghz is possible?

Hi I'm kinda new to the PC building scene so any advice would be great I have a AMD FX 8320 and gigabyte 990FXA ud3 (rev 4.0)

after christmas I'm getting the rest of the pc any advice on these parts would be really good, but right now it's

XFXAMD Radeon HD7870
Patriot 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 viper 3
Thermaltake Water 2.0 Performer
Arctic F14 140mm Fan X4
Corsair Builder Series 750W Modular
Fractal Design ARC midi R2 or Define R4 can't decide

and 8320 is a cpu with not very good binning..that's why it's sell as second grade after 8350..

With this combination, you'll need more than just luck if you want to push your processor to 5Ghz..

Mostly 8320 will run at 4.4-4.5Ghz..

So, if you want to touch that speed, get a better board and get 8350, and, don't forger, best cooler is a must..

5.0 is going to be hard to hit unless you get a really good chip. With AMD overclocking, the key thing you really need to cool down more than the chip is the VRM's and the socket. Since they have a high TDW already at 125w, and then overclocked even more power, that socket gets hot. A lot of people who OC their 8320 or 8350's to high temps need to cool the socket. I have a fan mounted behind my MB to cool my socket and people go as far to cut holes in their case on the other side and mount a fan to cool the socket.
 

okay well 4.5Ghz isn't bad i'll just have to do it and see what i can get
but apart from that do you think it's a good build or am i going over kill on some things (could i maybe save some money or vise versa will any of the parts be bottlenecking the rest ad maybe i need to spend a bit more ?
the only parts i already have is CPU and MB
P.S could you suggest a good cpu cooler that might be able to deal with the heat ?

Corsair Builder Series 750W Modular => get a lower psu wattage. actually a system equipped with 7870 only consume 300w while gaming, so 500w actually is more than enough..but because you'll overclock that cpu, well 600w is the nice spot
but i don't like cx series..well, this one is intended for mild user, and durability is questionable..
it's a better powersupply, with much higher durability..

oh i forgot to say that i plan to get another 7870 and do CF after a couple of months will that change it a lot ?

 
nope..620w is more than enough to run cf cards in your system..

So 620w psu is more than enough to run your system..even if you add one more card and run it in crossfire mode..
 
not that it's possible. it can be overclocked to 5ghz and then some. but like previously mentioned. you need good cooling. as in extreeme cooling. im running a fx8320 on an msi 990fxa-gd80v2 board overclocked to 5.1ghz@38c which normally runs around 26 to 33C but because its almost 100 degrees out its a lil higher. I'm using a corsair h100i with push and pull configuration along with 8 other fans in the case. I find that using just the multiplier without touching the fsb the cpu dont run hot at all. once i hit the fsb the temps start to rise a lil but nothing high enough to worry about. i have the voltage set at 1.5v pll at 2.99v nb at 1.22500v and she runs stable as a rock.

Ive recently OC my 8320 with a 980De3 MOBO at 4.4ghz with 1.4v as suggested by a video i saw. All is well but im afraid to go any further and im wondering if i should apply more fans to the mobo somehow. Thanks for your Info.
