Is there anything significant different between these two processors besides price point?

edit: i'm upgrading from a 6300 as I feel its under performing and getting ready to make the move to a new mobo as well.

The i7 4790K performs almost identically to the 4690K in gaming, as games cannot yet utilise all 8 threads of the i7. The same can be said for the FX-8350, no game can make use of all 8 cores.

Both can be overclocked to similar amounts, and so both will perform the same in gaming. Beware that you will need a Z97 board and a decent cooler to overclock the 4690K.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£155.94 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: RAIJINTEK AIDOS BLACK 48.6 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£16.95 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£89.99 @ Novatech)
Total: £262.88...
The 8370 might overclock better as it will be a higher binned chip (AMD thought it was a higher quality wafer and so could give it a higher turbo speed) but otherwise they're identical. In fact, all FX-6000 and up chips are identical, just some have two cores disabled (as one might have failed) or just weren't high enough quality to reach 4.7GHz 9590 level.

Edit: if you're getting a new motherboard, it might be time you started thinking about going Intel. For the price of an 8370 and 990FX board you can get a much better locked i5 and H97 board.

I thought about it. I just got done purchasing a GIGABYTE GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD GeForce GTX 970 and CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) CMY8GX3M2A2133C8R

From the bit of Research I've done, I can only see that the turbo-boost of the 8370 is 4.3 GHz, where the 8350 is 4.2 GHz. This should not offer a performance increase if you overclock them both. The TDP's of the two are different (8370 being lower), and the 8370 has been released sooner. If it were me I would just get the 8350, and overclock it! Here is a CPU Boss comparison! (http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-FX-8370-vs-AMD-FX-8350a) Any other questions just ask!

An 8370 uses the same amount of energy as the 8350 at equal clock speeds, the tdp is just "lower" because of the 3.3ghz base clock, which it will never run at anyways.

yes
when it comes to gaming, amd cannot compete with the single core performance of the intel cpus.

I was eyeing the i7, but like you said and several others i5 will give me the same results, and save me around 100 bucks, so i'll take the jump on the i5 and oc it low to mid 4.0's. i was looking at some different motherboards and a different cooler, let me know if it would be cost effective for purchasing them. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/smwYCJ . also was looking at this other asrock http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157502 . my case is discontinued i'm guessings, wasn't able to put it in there. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811855010 .
