Amd 8350 + r9 290x upgrades?

Hey guys and gals Ive hit a wall and need some help getting around it. I really want more performance from my machine (Excluding overclocking) but don't know what path I should take. Should I upgrade my cpu or my gpu? I already know theres no point in upgrading to a 970 because honestly my tests and the ones of others show my xfx r9 290x beats it out. Im wondering if I can upgrade to a gtx 980 without bottle-necking or change my cpu to an i7.

My full spec list is,

GPU: xfx r9 290x
CPU: fx 8350
CPU COOLER: Hyper 212 Evo
PSU: CX750M
MB: Gigabyte 970a-DS3P
RAM: 8gb Corsair vengeance
Hardrive: WD Blue edition 1TB
SSD: Kingston 128gb

The problem is your CPU. Your burning money on a 980 when you already have a 290x.
Change to an I5 non K variant since you don't want to overclock.
It means a new montherboard also.
If your talking 980 Money anyway you can probably get yourself another 290x if you really want to increase performance. There are probably lots of 290x's going on the Toms classifieds so you could Crossfire fairly cheaply.
Crossfire first even and see how you go. If you aren't seeing the results then upgrade the CPU and Mobo.

Ok Ill prob go with the crossfire and cpu + mobo upgrade! Thanks for the advice been rather stuck on this for the past week.
