Hello forum members,

I have a GX60 with a AMD A10-4600M. I included a screenshot from HWiNFO. Does anyone on this forum know if there is anything wrong with the temperatures? Today my laptop turned off randomly at around 40% battery. I'm trying to diagnose why it turned off.

Solution
4600m has been known to report extremely high temps, sometimes well over 110c. short story... this is physically impossible, temp programs are not calibrated correctly for this processor. also reported idle temps are extremely high, even in brand new laptops. the actual thermal shutdown temp is about 92c. nearing 92c you would likely "smell" the heat(baking electronics but not damaging them), and literally feel the heat on the keyboard above the cpu area.

if your worried about temps, make sure the intake and exhaust are clear of dust and debris. also make sure the fan is working. if you do blow compressed duster can into the holes, do it with the laptop off and use a paper clip to keep the fan from spinning. the compressed gas...
I was running the laptop without the power cord. No games or anything, but I was running quartus II. I don't think that would be the problem. I've heard around that the cpu package isn't very reliable and you shouldn't pay attention to it, but that's probably wrong. Is there some kind of log somewhere I can see why it shutdown?

well..cpu 50ºc and cpu package 100ºc so..i just saw the highest one.
install coretemp from http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
i think its a reliable monitor for temps.. use your cpu at 100% and check temps.
Well if it doesn´t crash, just shuts down, i don´t know if it makes a log or not.. also i don´t know where too look for those logs (if any) sorry

Thank you for the replies. nikoli707, over the night I had my computer in sleep mode, and now today I opened my laptop then immediately checked the package temp. The temperature read 80C, which seems impossible to me.

I'll have to just see if this ever happens again (hopefully not.) In the meantime, I've just ordered a 5750m to replace my 4600m. Hopefully, this will solve the temperature issue. If not, like you said programs just aren't calibrated for the A10s. A performance boost would be nice though :)

what laptop do you have. let us know if the 5750m works with your bios.
