I ran across this deal at Office Depot for an HP Laptop "HP 15-bw053od" for $399.99. The specs are as follows:

CPU: AMD A10-9620p w/integrated Radeon R5 graphics.
RAM: 8GB DDR4-1866mhz
Hard Drive: 1TB 5400RPM

My current laptop is a Lenovo Z585. Specs are as follows:

CPU: AMD A10-4600m w/integrated Radeon HD 7660G
RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600mhz
Hard Drive: 750GB 7200RPM

Some of the components of my laptop have obviously been upgraded since I bought it new but I was mainly concerned with the APU. I was thinking with the 9600p being a 7th gen A10 I would see a significant difference in the performance over my 1st gen A10, especially in the integrated graphics department. I do game every now and again and I don't care of course of maxing out my settings but just being able to play even on low-medium is fine. Currently my Lenovo can play Bioshock Infinite on low-medium settings.

When comparing the two APU's however I was kind of disappointed in the lack of improvement in performance on both the CPU and GPU power. Is there something I'm missing here? Is the 9620p actually an upgrade over my 4600m or am I better off just waiting it out for something better?

I know a desktop or "gaming laptop" would be better but I'm on a strict budget and a desktop would not be practical for me. Is there someone that owns a laptop with a similar setup as mentioned above or has knowledge on how it would perform?

Lmao if your getting something for 400 you can get a gaming laptop for 400 and under. or even build a pc for 400 thats wayyyyy better. if you want help ask me, if you dont have space its fine thanks to the tech of itx. trust don't buy it

Unless you're getting an old gaming laptop second hand it's very unlikely you'll get a true "gaming" laptop for $400. I already have a desktop PC, this is strictly for portability. I know I won't be able to game at highest settings but I don't care about that.

IF you want portability, you can get a mini iTX PC where its ultra small for 400 and it can do everything you need.
Including gaming
