So I have upgraded my laptop (msi gx70) with a ssd.

I know, the laptop is outdated but is my only laptop i can edit videos on.

I would love to use Adobe premier, it just doesnt run on that so i need to use Vegas. Which doesnt run optimal too.

Is it worth upgrading with another 8gb RAM or should i go get a new laptop? If so, any recommendations for 400~700 euro’s? (Second hand?)

Thanks

a10-5750m?
I would rather look for a brand new laptop with 2500u or better, 16GB RAM and at least 256GB SSD.

I bought this year a Lenovo Thinkpad E485 (2500U+8GB RAM+256GB SSD) for €649 and then I bought another 8GB RAM for €50 and put a 500GB HDD (lying for years around in my room) because the laptop can sill fit another 2.5" HDD.
You should be able to find similar laptops too.

Note:
This laptop is already big jump from your laptop but the iGPU could be still weak for your editing need.

If you are interested, E485 is old and hard to find . This is the newer version:

netherlands. CPU/GPU is holding what back? The ram?
that CPU is horrible compared with other components and even if you have 16 GB of ram, it will not get faster, you will just be able to have chrome in behind while other thing will progress without slowdown.

Are you fixated on laptop? Vegas needs power and for 700$ you can get 3x the horsepower in desktop.

this thing if you want to stay laptop:

will offer at least twice the horsepower of your current one.

PC on same cost and NEW is around 5 times the strength or more:

If you are doing video editing quite a lot, going for stronger (expensive) laptops or owning a good PC would be a good option.

Laptop path: aim for laptops with I5 8xxx (or higher) or Ryzen 5 (or higher) with decent dedicated GPU.

PC Path: aim for at least Ryzen 5 3600 with RX570 or better (nVidia equivalent will do the trick too).
