AMD A10-5750M with AMD RadeOn R9 M290X or Intel Core i5-4200U with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M?

Hi everyone!

I'm about to buy new laptop, and I can't decide! I have two options

1. MSI machine with AMD A10-5750M CPU and AMD RadeOn R9 M290X GPU

2. Dell machine with Intel Core i5-4200U CPU and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M GPU

I mainly want to use it for gaming and everyday stuff. Personally I consider the AMD CPU way too weak to work well with that R9 M290X... But correct me if I'm mistaken! The MSI one costs $220 more than the Dell.
Guys, I cannot decide! I'm not a professional, so all the advices are welcomed! Help me please! Wich option would you recommend me for gaimng, if You were me??

The Dell machine is probably a better purchase. For one, the i5 is a much better gaming cpu. Two, the A10 will probably choke the life out of that 290x. Three, the MSI machines with big cards in them tend to get hot and don't have a fantastic cooling solution so if you're pushing it hard gaming, it's likely to have issues. I don't know about THAT particular MSI machine, and I'm going off prior history, but that's my thought. Unless you're wanting to play the latest titles at the highest settings, that Dell will probably be fine for you.

This is the i5-4200U that we're talking about, right? If its the U version, its actually less performant than the A10.

i5-4200M however, will blow both of them apart in gaming.

Yep, you're right, I was thinking of the M. I guess the A10 would be the better rig between those two. Depending on what their asking for that setup, you might seriously want to consider a different brand or model. How much for each of those? Are you in the US or where?

Thanks for your help! The Dell costs around $ 530, and the MSI is about $ 650. I'm in Hungary, so I changed the price into the international currency to make the decision making process easier.

If those two units are the best choices in your area within your budget, I'd go with the MSI then. With the relatively low TDP of the A10 heat might not be an issue but there are most likely better options available. I'll look into it. Are there any big name retailers that you can purchase from in your area like Amazon, Newegg or even any of the laptop manufacturers that ship to your area?

Sorry guys, but I totally miscalculated the prices... The Dell rig costs $1000 and the MSI is $1220. Sorry once again!
But I found a brand new ASUS machine, exactly the ASUS G551JM-DM057D. It has an i7-4710HQ with a Geforce GTX 860M 4GB. Costs about $80 more than the MSI one. I think it'd be the ultimate choice! But what do You think about it?

The ASUS with the i7 and 860M is superior in every way and that's actually a very reasonable price considering it's an ASUS and has top shelf components.
