AMD A10-5800K bottleneck R7 265?

Hi,

The title says it all. I have an A10-5800K APU overclocked to 4.2 GHz. I know it's not a great CPU, but will it be a bottleneck in games?

I know it changes from game to game, but I was wondering in general, how will it do?

Thank you!

Futureproofing is a myth. But if you want to be able to run all the games releasing in the nexst 2 years on ultra just get an r9 270x. Your a10 will not bottleneck an r9 270x. The msi version costs 189 dollars on newegg. If you can extend your budget buy it or at least get an r9 270: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202090&cm_re=r9_270-_-14-202-090-_-Product Costs 159.99 dollars which is almost the same as the r7 265.

Awesome. So for Minecraft, GRID 2, maybe some Steam games, I should be good? (No Battlefield or COD or Watch Dogs or anything.)

Thanks for the input!

I actually got the R7 265 for $100 near-new on eBay. I have to say, I was expecting to be blown away in performance (going from the A10's iGPU), which did not happen at all. For $100 though, as a casual gamer I think I will enjoy it.

For 100 $ thats a great card and in the end a great bargain. on 1080p you will me able to play all games on med-high settings with constant 50 fps with that card.
