Hi all well my question is on the tittle
Anyways I just want a piece of advice & tips coz I'm planning to change my a4-6300 CPU to a10-7860k well my motherboard is asrock fm2a58m-vg3+r2.0 and it already has a OS which is Windows 10 64bit PSU@600watts 500gb HDD
TOSHIBA DT01ACA050 and the mobo has a xboost features I enable it. I check the compatible list of CPU for my motherboard and I see this since BIOS P2.70 I don't know what it's for I'm just a newbie on pc building.... well will that be fine I'm planning to buy it maybe next week just wanna know what's the best coz I'm a pc gamer

Solution

It probably shouldn't make any difference if you are simply swapping the APU. The new APU has faster RAM speed capabilities than the old one. Xboost, I'm not familiar enough with to say for sure, but I doubt it would make any difference,

However, If you are familiar with your BIOS, you may want to reset everything back to default until the new APU is installed and booted to Windows... just to eliminate any surprises;-)
Win will have to install its new driver when it sees a new device. It may ask you to reboot when that is done. Once everything is back...

Then just check what BIOS you have now. You may be good. Use CPU-Z and look under the mainboard tab for the BIOS version/date. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
If your BIOS is late enough, it is just a simple CPU swap and you're done.

Win will have to install its new driver when it sees a new device. It may ask you to reboot when that is done. Once everything is back to normal, then you can tweak you BIOS settings back the way they were.
