I have an AMD A10-7850k CPU. How big of a bottleneck would it mean to a GTX 970 GPU?
If too big what is the strongest GPU that wouldnt be bottlenecked too much by my CPU?

Solution
Upgrade your cpu. A GTX 980 cost as much as an i5, a motherboard and a new case. Not only will you feel like you have a new computer but you'll alleviate any performance issues cpu wise that you currently have.

You have to ask yourself if you really want to wing it and cause bottlenecks, stuttering and the like. Overclocking won't help, you'll get 1.5GHz at most which won't even compare to getting a fresh intel cpu. You need to create a stable foundation, and you realize now that you'll have to pay for it in order to get what you should have right now. So upgrade your cpu now and then get a graphics card okay! Have a nice day.
The following benchmark is for Far Cry 4. It benchmarks the more powerful GTX 980 on many different CPUs. The A10-7850k is not part of the performance chart. However, it would be less powerful than the AMD FX-4100 CPU at the bottom of the chart. Because the GTX 970 is not as powerful as the GTX 980, the performance gap should not be as large, but it will still be a significant bottleneck.

FC4 is a bit CPU intensive. In games that are more CPU dependent, the performance difference compared to the AMD FX-4100 would likely be greater. In games that are not CPU intensive, the both the A10-7850k and the FX-4100 should provide very similar performance.

I am running the AMD a10 7850 and I a no issues running anything. I am currently playing far cry 4 @ 1080 p on very high settings and get over 85 fps. When running on ultra settings I average about 65-70 fps.. Call of duty modern warfare @ 1080p highest settings getting over 100 fps. This is what I see using the fraps app. Runs smooth as silk.
