The A10 7850k's single core performance is better than the FX6300 and FX8320 and it will push any video card just as well as they would. It's likely to hold a 970 back a little bit but it's plenty strong enough for 1080p.

Is the an optimum combo? No way. Will it work? yes

To answer your original question, you will not max out every game no matter what video card you get, but you will max out a lot of them and still probably get very high settings on the rest.

That CPU and GPU combo is not meant to work together. It will run, but the likely hood is that your CPU will bottleneck the GPU. Another option is to crossfire the APU you already have with a graphics card like the AMD 240 or 250.

I concur with CTurbo
but wanted to ask, do you already own the A10? If not the Athlon 860K is roughly half the price and will give you the same performance without the integrated graphics you wouldn't be using anyway.

Necro a 1 year old thread!

A10 + a single R7 250 is already a bad idea; asymmetrical crossfire doesn't work very well, and performance is pretty poor. Even if you could crossfire the A10 with two 250's (which you can't), it would likely perform no better, and possibly worse than just the 2 250's.
