Hi all, new to the forum
My son has the above with 8Gb of RAM and has serious lag on Minecraft. As I'm still learning the world of PCs and modding, would my best / cheapest option be to fit a graphics card ?
Cheers

Does he only play MINECRAFT ? Actually Minecraft is a CPU-bound game though. These are the official requirement specs to play this game, for the JAVA edition.

The AMD A10 CPU is kind of weak, in my opinion.

A computer with the minimum requirements should be able to play Minecraft: Java Edition. However, for the best experience, please consider the recommended requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • CPU: Intel Core i3-3210 3.2 GHz / AMD A8-7600 APU 3.1 GHz or equivalent
  • RAM: 4GB
  • GPU (Integrated): Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Ivy Bridge) or AMD Radeon R5 series (Kaveri line) with OpenGL 4.4*
  • GPU (Discrete): Nvidia GeForce 400 Series or AMD Radeon HD 7000 series with OpenGL...

It's mainly Minecraft now, he's got through the Fortnight phase (thank god) but he's now set up a server and is really got the minecraft bug after a few years on PS4 and Xbox. I bought this 'Gaming PC' and its standard out the box so was looking for a relatively cheap upgrade to help with the lag. A few people I've spoken to said the CPU was reasonably good to take a separate graphics card? Also is 8Gb the max ram it can take? Are there faster better RAM?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get my head around all the options / possibilities..

Honestly speaking, I cannot answer these questions, since I don't play this game. I just took the system specs from the Internet, and I've read that Minecraft is mostly a CPU-bound game, but it also requires a decent graphics cards.

But the A10-7860K CPU should be fine for this game, IMO.

The recommended system RAM is 8GB.....It doesn't matter even if you have 16GB of RAM. The game will only utilize what's needed. Having extra system RAM never hurts though..
