So I bought a really budget pc bundle for my first pc a while back and I am now at the stage where it requires an upgrade. I don't have the money or skills necessary to upgrade my mobo, so I am limited with cpu variety. I have an fm2+ socket. I have a 7470k currently, and my graphics card broke, so that pushed me to think about an upgrade. I was looking for 7890k's to replace my current cpu but I can't seem to find a new one available to purchase anywhere on the Internet! I can't compromise with a 7850k or the such because this cpu needs to have adequate speed to last a few years. My budget is kind of limited and I am completely stuck here. What cpu should I get!?!

Overall, I would recommend just sticking with what you got for the time being. Any CPU upgrade isn't going to bring you the performance upgrade you are looking for i.e. ability to record, stream and game comfortably for a few years.

I'd suggest looking into building your own PC. CaryHolzman on YouTube is a great starting point if you want to learn, I cannot praise him enough.

Then, perhaps look at building a PC with something like a Ryzen 5 2600 with a pretty decent AM4 motherboard (you can pick a good one up for around £50-80), as at least then, you will have the pathway to upgrade your CPU later down the line with the AM4 platform. Plus, the performance of a Ryzen 5 2600 (for...

You talk about a gaming CPU that can last for a few years, and mention the 7850K, as someone already ask you, What exactly are you playing?

You can buy an A10-7850K or 7890K, but those will still be 4 cores/ 4 threads of a really old architecture, so depending on what game you intent to play is how usefull those upgrades will be.

Right now Ryzen CPU (and I really mean any) will be way better than those, so yeah I guess is up to you, and I understand about not having skills to mess with a mobo upgrade (which will also mean RAM upgrade no matter if you go intel or amd you will need DDR4) .

Whatever you buy also remember to check it comes with the proper stock cooler.

I still have the cooler from my original cpu and some Arctic mx thermal paste. I am mostly going to be playing gta, counter strike, omsi, beamng.drive, and some other simulator games like bus sim and fernbus. I might get a head tracker or vr set though. It really has to last me and provide stability in all of my games, especially omsi which is extremely unoptimised. I don't really mind about ets2 and ats because of how optimised those games are. My needs restrict variety with cpu selection and the one I feel like I need that is within my budget is unavailable. I can only spend about £80 or Compromise on graphics card budget. I frickin hate having such an old socket. Also I would prefer using ddr3 as I already have 16gb on the way and it is cheaper.

I personally would not spend too much money on that rather obsolete platform.
If you find that cpu for like 30$ ok, but other than that you are looking at a new platform maybe.
What do you use the system for?
Gaming. Mostly gaming. I want to get into streaming and recording though. I do like to edit and record. I might end up using multiple displays as well but not sure on that. I might have a budget of about 140. I can spend 160 maybe but I kinda wanted to save about £20 to get a chair. My other one broke. I'm sure I might be able to spend a bit more to get a new pc which is probably best but I'm running real cheap here. I broke the window on my front pc panel and the other one broke, and I am missing a key on my keyboard. I am using a very old Samsung television as well. I would prefer a prebuilt computer bundle with a monitor and stuff but tbh I'm not really sure what specs I would be looking for for my needs. I don't know where to look or what to look for considering such a low budget.

I think you are expecting too much from the obsolete FM2+ platform. Your requirements especially for streaming and recording requires at least a modern 6 core 12 thread cpu. This will require a new motherboard, RAM and cpu combination which means doubling your budget.

I have 2x 8gb ram sticks on the way. I think I might get away with 300-350 to get a new setup but even if so I wouldn't know what to get. My ram sticks only work with amd so what would be your recommendations on that?

Ps. I am not that familiar with building computers so I would most probably need a prebuilt setup

Unless you can return the old 2x8GB DDR3 RAM you already bought, then you basically shut the door for a any new build, all modern platform from atleast 5 years ago are using DDR4.

For the games you named I think the most demanding one is the GTA V, so Im guessing going from a 2 cores CPU like the 7470k, to any of the 4 core CPUs you named will be a nice step up.

Be sure that your current CPU cooler is enough for the new CPUs (7850k, 7890k) cause they have higher TDP than your current one.

Saldy as already been mention, on this oldish platform, recording and streaming will be really painfull, not imposible (if you have the right GPU) but painfull.

And yeah most sim games, like ets2, ats, bus sims, etc. Will work fine on the A10-7850K (just be carefull about the cooler!)

Nice one. I will get a couple of fans as well then. I have nowhere to mount them lol but I can improvise if it really needs cooling. Thanks to everyone here!

Plus, the performance of a Ryzen 5 2600 (for example) compared to an A10 7890K is huge and you can take advantage of high-speed DDR4 RAM.

With the FM2+ platform your CPU currently runs on, and the one you want to upgrade too (AMD A10 7890K), you are pretty stuck in terms of upgrading further, so you might as well start to think about switching to Ryzen/AM4 platform.
